About BVR

There is a growing community of amateur beach volley players in Romania. However, events are only announced and promoted on Facebook and through word of mouth, making it hard for new players to find events and connect to other players.

Beach Volley Romania is a platform that centralises all the beach volley events in the country, offering an easy way to track progress, get updates, and register to events.

The Goal

Discover the kind of people that would find use in such a platform.

Define a product that suits those needs with the potential for profit and growth.

Design the mobile app.

Amateur beach volley players in Romania don’t have an easy way to get updates on their favourite events, find new ones, and track their progress.

Personas

Since the developers are part of this community, we were able to define three main types of users based on their network.

User Journeys

BVR is split between two main sections: Tournaments and Profile. Most journeys happen in the Tournaments section, from which there are relevant links to the Profile.

Information Architecture

The app has a fairly simple architecture, with the user journey mostly stretching between 2 levels of depth.

Low Fidelity Designs

These are the screens that the developers used as placeholder. They use basic Android UI elements and show a rough structuring of the needed information.

Prototype

For the high fidelity designs and the prototype I got inspired from other app and workout apps: high contrast, bold fonts, lively colour palette.

What’s Next

  1. Feedback system for app users
  2. Redesign the website by extending the app’s design system
  3. Adding a News Feed with latest results and announcements
  4. Live Score – score input feature for organisers
  5. Following players or teams made possible
